Somatic Breathwork
1:1 sessions via zoom or in person. (Wellington, New Zealand)
Somatic breathwork is a 1:1 embodiment experience, designed to help you release stress and trauma from your body, heal your nervous system and become more clear within yourself and in your life.
Through circular breathing paired with music and vocal cue you will guided to let go of anything that you may have been both consciously and unconsciously holding onto.
What is somatic breathwork?
Why breathwork is so powerful:
When the stress we experience in our lives isn’t felt or expressed it doesn’t just go away. It gets storied in our body and our nervous system and even if we aren’t consciously aware of it, it can affect us every single day.
Some ways this stored stress shows up in our life:
Tightening of the chest, difficulty breathing deeply.
Anxiety
Depression
Getting triggered easily.
Lashing out in your relationship.
Struggling to focus at work.
Feeling fatigued and more tired than usual.
Skin problems.
Healing is about reconnecting the mind and the body. It is about releasing that stored energy and emotion, creating space within for a new way of being and feeling.
How does this experience work?
Somatic breathwork takes you out of your thinking mind and back into the body, helping you to activate your own innate healing by using the breath.
This breathwork style employs circular breathing which is paired with music and vocal cueing to help you experience the emotional release that you may be needing.
These emotional releases may show up as laughing, crying, moving, shaking, yelling or screaming.
There is no right or wrong way to release. Emotion is just energy that needs to move through the body.
Emotion = energy in motion.
The first half of the session uses mouth breathing and elongated exhales which activates the parasympathetic nervous system to help you release stress, trauma and stored energy.
The second half uses nose breathing and elongated inhales which activates the sympathetic nervous system, slowing everything down helping you welcome how you really want to feel and show up in your life.
The session itself is an eyed closed journey where you will be lying in a comfortable space in your home.
